Phase 1
The clinic operates as a private for-profit entity, cooperatively owned by employees, providing one-on-one integrative and naturopathic services, midwifery care, delivery services, and personalized fertility consultation and counseling. A portion of the profits are re-invested into the rural outreach program. Additionally, the clinic provides experiential global health learning opportunities for medical students through the Experiential Learning Program, prioritizing data collection while cultivating cultural humility within global health education. The profits from the private birthing clinic and the experiential learning program diversify revenues, building resilience for the organization.
Phase 2
The rural outreach program extends basic health screenings and Sexual Reproductive Health services to the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions of Ghana. Vans equipped with basic medical equipment and supplies, staffed by a medical professional, make scheduled trips between rural villages, interfacing with the Ghanaian Ministry of Health’s Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. Basic services are administered on-site and individuals requiring secondary or tertiary care are provided a travel voucher redeemable at the clinic to cover travel expenses and incentivize follow up appointments.
The Integrative Health Clinic of Ghana project honors Charity Bartlett, Certified Nurse Midwife. Auntie Charity has worked as a nurse midwife in Ghana for over 40 years.
